Ag Link, Inc. (Est. 1994) became a value-added, recycled tire product manufacturer through its affiliation with northern California’s major tire recycler, Golden By-Products, Inc. In 2001, Ag Link owners Rob and Jana Nairn, employees of Golden, saw an opportunity to branch off of Golden’s tire recycling business and begin manufacturing recycled tire products. In 2004, Ag Link started production in two phases of its manufacturing business: molding and coloration. The molding division is in start up production of rubber mats for commercial livestock applications.
Ag Link’s coloration division began coloring and packaging steel free ¾” tire pieces for use in loose-fill playground and landscape applications. Ag Link developed its own brand name for this product: Rubber Bark and conducted a marketing campaign including web site development, production and distribution of publicity fliers, and exhibition at a few promotional trade shows. Ag Link does some direct sales and has major distributor relationships with its product currently warehoused in 7 locations throughout California and Nevada.
Rob and Jana Nairn, owners of Ag Link, each have Bachelor of Science Degrees in AgriBusiness Marketing from California Polytechnic State University at San Luis Obispo. Both have worked in business, management and sales for over 10 years since college. Their involvement in the scrap tire recycling industry through their employment with Golden By-Products and experience with Rubber Bark offers them a unique and valuable perspective on the future of markets and trends for the industry.
